St Nic's Eco-Group

Eco ToP
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it".
Genesis 2:15

There has been a growing consciousness in the Church of England of the world around us as God’s creation, given to us with the instruction to be good stewards of it. We also recognise this as an area where we could do much more at St Nics and, following our refreshed vision, a small group formed to review what we could do to better show our gratitude to God for this gift he has given us.

We long to see creation-care develop as an intrinsic part of our faith as a church. Please join us!

Reducing our environmental impact

We are identifying other key areas to reduce our environmental impact:

  • review the A Rocha eco-church award as a useful framework
  • work with the buildings review committee to ensure that environment features in the process
  • join in Open Day events to share the beauty of God's creation with visitors to our church

Coffee cups

Resources

The group have started by focussing on the resources we use as a church:

  • encouraging people to bring their own cups to the 10am service
  • thinking about our use of paper for weekly service and notice sheets, etc
